Licensure

The online Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Baylor University prepares students to work as speech-language pathologists. Speech-language pathologists work with the full range of human communication and swallowing disorders for individuals young and old. They work in many different healthcare, educational, and research settings with varying roles, responsibilities, and client populations.

This program leads to eligibility for Texas licensure as a speech-language pathologist. Students may also be eligible for licensure in other states outside of Texas; however, licensure requirements differ from state to state.

Most state licensing boards require a master’s degree, testing, and potentially additional post-graduate coursework/supervised clinical experience requirements. We encourage students to research the requirements specific to their resident state. Information about state-by-state licensure requirements can be found on the ASHA website.
