How to Study for the Praxis Speech-Language Pathology Test

The Praxis Speech-Language Pathology (5331) test is a national examination commissioned by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) as part of the speech-language pathology certification process. Aspiring speech-language pathologists (SLPs) must pass this test to achieve ASHA certification. A passing score may also be required to obtain a speech-language pathology license in their state.
An SLP who is certified by ASHA holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC), a credential that recognizes they have “voluntarily met rigorous academic and professional standards, typically going beyond the minimum requirements for state licensure.” The Praxis test is facilitated by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
